Kenneth Branagh’s MIF Macbeth broadcast by NT Live on 20 July

Kenneth Branagh’s hotly-anticipated return to the stage as Macbeth, which runs as part of the Manchester International Festival, will be live-streamed via NT Live on 20 July 2013.

Directed by Branagh and Rob Ashford and also starring Alex Kingston as Lady Macbeth, the production is being staged in an “intimate deconsecrated Manchester Church”.

It will mark National Theatre Live’s first festival partnership and fourth broadcast from outside the National Theatre.

According to press material, over one million people worldwide have now seen a NT Live broadcast in 23 countries, including 250 cinemas and performing arts venues in the UK.

Macbeth runs from 4 July to 21 July 2013. The cast also features: Jimmy Yuill (Banquo), John Shrapnel (Duncan), Alexander Vlahos (Malcolm), Norman Bowman (Ross), Ray Fearon (Macduff) and Rosalie Craig (Lady Macduff).
