National's Curious Incident tours UK from December

The award-winning production, currently on a break in the West End, will kick off its first tour at the Lowry in Salford

The National Theatre’s multi award-winning production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time will begin a nationwide tour in December.

The tour will open from 18 December 2014 to 10 January 2015 at the Lowry in Salford, with more dates and venues to be announced in due course.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is adapted from Mark Haddon's bestselling novel by Simon Stephens, and directed by Marianne Elliott.

The London production is currently on a break following the collapse of part of the Apollo Theatre ceiling in December. It reopens at the neighbouring Gielgud in June.

Julia Fawcett, chief executive of The Lowry, said: "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is one of the most imaginative and unique theatrical adaptations of recent times and we are delighted to be opening the first performance of its UK tour here in Salford. The opportunity to present a multiple-Olivier award-winning production of this calibre to North West audiences is something of which The Lowry is incredibly proud.

"It is also further proof of the mutual benefit of the longstanding and ever-growing partnership between ourselves and the National Theatre – which has brought some 22 productions to our stage, the last of which, War Horse, was the biggest in our history."
