Whoopi Goldberg to perform her stand up show in UK for the first time

Whoopi Goldberg is to perform her stand up show Whoopi Goldberg – Stand Up Live! for the first time in the UK.

The Sister Act actress will appear on stage at the London Palladium for one night on 11 February 2017.

It will be the first time the Academy Award-winning Goldberg has performed her act in the UK.

Goldberg performed on HBO specials of Comic Relief in the 1980s and has starred in many comedies throughout her career, including sitcom Bagdad Cafe and 1991 film Ghost. She hosted late-night talk show The Whoopi Goldberg Show in the early nineties.

Goldberg's film work includes The Color Purple in 1985 and the voice of Shenzi in the film of The Lion King as well as the role of Deloris Van Cartier in the film of Sister Act.

In 2010 she starred in the West End production of Sister Act as Mother Superior, which also ran on Broadway and among her other theatre work she has performed in a 2003 production Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and a production of Xanadu in 2008.

Tickets go on sale on Friday.
