What's In My Dressing Room? – School of Rock's David Fynn
David Fynn plays the lead role of Dewey Finn in Andrew Lloyd Webber's School of Rock – The Musical, which has just announced a West End extension. It has also been nominated for Best New Musical at this year's WhatsOnStage Awards.
His previous credits include She Stoops to Conquer (National Theatre), Mojo (RSC) and 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Donmar).
We caught up with David and asked him to give us a tour of his dressing room at the New London Theatre.
The "Oscar"
DF: 'I won an Oscar. Definitely.'
The Energy Gels
DF: 'The show is pretty physical for me and I often need a hit of energy after the first act. They taste horrible though. Like gone off fruit.'
The Whisky Shelf
DF: 'I was bought quite a lot of whisky on press night so we have the occasional "whisky club" in my room; where some cast members will have a little glass after a show (only when we have a day off the next day).'
The Jimi Hendrix Book
DF: 'I know Dewey is a Hendrix fan (as am I) so I find this a nice gentle way to segue into the beginning of warming up. It's a collection of letters and lyrics of his and is a really informative insight into someone who was quite reclusive.'
The Batman Suit
DF: 'My alternate Gary Trainor left this in my room a few weeks back. I think he moonlights as a super hero, but took a few weeks off for Christmas. Even Batman needs rest.'
The Cow Painting
DF: 'I don't have any windows in my dressing room so I like to pretend this picture is a window looking over a field in the countryside. I keep it closed though. The air con doesn't work otherwise.'
The Guitar
DF: 'Well it looks so cool. It's all for show. I should practice really.'
