To mark the 100th anniversary of the Armistice, the National Theatre will revive War Horse in the Lyttelton Theatre for a limited run.

Eleven years after it first debuted at the venue, Tom Morris and Marianne Elliott's Olivier Award-winning production, based on Michael Morpurgo's novel, will celebrate 100 years since the First World War ended.

Transferring into the West End in 2009 where it ran for seven years, the piece has also toured internationally, visiting China, the US, and Belgium. The show won five Tony Awards in 2011. It tells the story of Joey, a horse bought by Devonshire boy Albert, and their ensuing experiences fighting on the Western front.

Katie Henry will direct the revival production which is currently touring the UK, and is designed by Rae Smith, with puppet direction, design and fabrication by Basil Jones and Adrian Kohler for Handspring Puppet Company, lighting by Paule Constable, and movement and horse choreography by Toby Sedgwick, with video design by Leo Warner and Mark Grimmer for 59 Productions, composition by John Tams, music by Adrian Sutton and sound by Christopher Shutt.

Tickets for the production will go on sale later this year.

War Horse will run at the National Theatre for a limited season in repertoire from 8 November to 5 January.
