Udderbelly Festival and London Wonderground are to merge into one single festival titled Underbelly Festival this summer.

The summer event will take place at the same location as both festivals, on Hungerford Car Park between Royal Festival Hall and Jubilee Gardens on South Bank. Udderbelly has been running in the capital for eight years, with Wonderground running for five.

The new festival will take place between 28 April and 30 September.

The first headline acts for the festival have also been announced. Australian circus company Casus will present the London premiere of their show Driftwood, Edinburgh Festival Fringe show Catch Me (Attrape Moi) will also play the capital for the first time, and cirque-cabaret act Briefs will present their first new show in four years.

Other highlights which have been announced today include James Acaster, Al Murray, Sara Pascoe, Festival of the Spoken Nerd, Ed Gamble, Angelos and Barry, Margaret Thatcher Queen of Gameshows, House of Burlesque and Stephen K Amos.

Directors of the festival, Ed Bartlam and Charlie Wood, said: "We’re incredibly excited about Underbelly Festival, which is the natural progression for our hugely popular Udderbelly and London Wonderground festivals.

"Consolidating these events into one Underbelly Festival will make for a more joined-up and better festival experience for customers."

Underbelly Festival runs in London from 28 April to 30 September.
