The Ferryman extends in the West End

The critically-acclaimed production runs at the Gielgud and currently stars Paddy Considine

Jez Butterworth's play The Ferryman has extended in the West End until 2018.

Directed by Sam Mendes, the play is about a family in Northern Ireland during the Troubles of the '80s.

It opened at the Royal Court earlier this year to rave reviews, including five stars from WhatsOnStage, and transferred to the Gielgud Theatre in June.

The production, which was due to close on 7 October, will now run until 6 January 2018 and tickets are on sale now.

Full casting for the extension is yet to be announced, but the production currently stars Paddy Considine in his stage debut alongside Laura Donnelly and Genevieve O'Reilly.
