Dates for new Take That musical The Band officially announced

The show is to embark on a UK tour in September

Details have been announced for the upcoming new Take That musical The Band.

The show, written by Tim Firth and Take That, will begin its UK tour at Manchester Opera House on 8 September and opens officially on 26 September.

David Pugh and Dafydd Rogers are producing the show with Take That whose music Take That will make up the soundtrack. The show will star AJ Bentley, Nick Carsberg, Yazdan Qafouri Isfahani, Curtis T Johns and Sario Watanabe-Soloman, the winners of recent TV programme Let It Shine.

Playing the parts of Rachel and Young Rachel will be Rachel Lumberg and Faye Christall respectively. Further casting is to be announced.

Take That said: "We are incredibly proud and excited that our first production as theatre producers is The Band – a musical that we think will touch the hearts of not just our fans, but everyone."

The show is about five 16 year-old friends in 1992, who idolise their favourite band. The show follows them to 25 years later where they are women trying to fulful their dream of meeting their heroes.

Cities the show tours to include Manchester (September), Sheffield (4 to 14 October), Bradford (17 to 28 October), Southampton (31 October to 11 November), Llandudno (14 to 25 November), Stoke (28 November to 9 December), Cardiff (9 to 20 January), Liverpool (23 January to 3 February), Norwich (6 to 17 February) Canterbury (20 February to 3 March), Bristol (17 to 28 April), Birmingham (1 to 12 May), Plymouth (15 to 26 May) and Newcastle (3 to 14 April).
