Writer and director Stewart Pringle has been appointed associate dramaturg at the Bush Theatre.

Pringle, who has been artistic director at the Old Red Lion for the last three years, will take up his position in November. He replaces Rob Drummer, who left to become artistic director of Company of Angels.

Pringle will work closely with artistic director Madani Younis during the Bush's year of redevelopment in west London.

As well as his work at the Old Red Lion, for which he won an Off West End Award for best artistic director, Pringle has written several plays including The Ghost Hunter, You Look Tasty! and As Ye Sow. His first film Whisper won the best international short film at the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival.

He said, ‘I'm overjoyed to be joining the Bush Theatre, after three great years at the Old Red Lion. The Bush has been one of the most exciting destinations for me as a critic and theatre-goer since I first arrived in London, and I look forward to joining the brilliant Madani and his fantastic team to find and hone the most vital stories and most talented voices from across the world. It's going to be a blast. I can't wait to get started.'
