Stephen Campbell Moore will join Nicole Kidman in Photograph 51, which opens at the Noel Coward Theatre in September.

Anna Ziegler's new play, which is directed by Michael Grandage, tells the story of Rosalind Franklin, the British scientist who helped discover the structure of DNA.

Campbell Moore will play Maurice Wilkins, a scientist who worked with Franklin in her research.

The actor has stage credits including Chimerica, Berenice, Clybourne Park and All My Sons. He was also part of the original cast of The History Boys at the National Theatre.

Photograph 51 runs at the Noel Coward Theatre from 5 September to 21 November. 25% of tickets for the entire run are priced at £10, across all levels of the auditorium.

Director Grandage has long been rumoured to be planning a second West End season following the success of his five-play programme at the Noel Coward theatre between 2012 and 2014 featuring Judi Dench, Sheridan Smith, Daniel Radcliffe and Jude Law.

Kidman last appeared in the West End when she starred in Sam Mendes's production of David Hare's The Blue Room at the Donmar Warehouse in 1998.
