With a career in theatre spanning more than 30 years, Sonia Friedman's hit productions include Jez Butterworth's Jerusalem and The Ferryman, the musicals The Book of Mormon, Dreamgirls and Funny Girl, groundbreaking plays such as Chimerica, 1984 and The Nether, and of course the worldwide phenomenon Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
At this year's WhatsOnStage Awards she was honoured with the Equity Services to Theatre Award, presented by director Sam Mendes who described Friedman as 'a force of nature' and 'the leading theatre producer in the English speaking world'.
In the video above – played during the ceremony at the Prince of Wales Theatre on 25 February 2018 – several of her collaborators share their opinion on what makes Friedman so successful.
