In the city that never sleeps, a lot can happen in only a few weeks - and that's especially true in the theatre community. February brought us everyone from Alexander Hamilton to Tommy Tune, so check out six snapshots from the month...
1. Country music superstar Jennifer Nettles joins Broadway's Chicago

2. Jeremy Jordan, Laura Benanti, Ramin Karimloo and more in Parade concert at Lincoln Centre
For the third year running, Lincoln Centre has hosted Manhattan Concert Productions' staged versions of closed Broadway favourites. This year, Jeremy Jordan and Laura Benanti (along with lots of other musical-theatre favourites) starred in Jason Robert Brown's Parade. Watch the cast in action in an open rehearsal and on the Avery Fisher Hall stage. See more pictures of cast including Joshua Henry, Katie Rose Clarke, and Andy Mientus.
3. Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton opened at the Public Theatre and announced its Broadway transfer
In The Heights scribe Lin-Manuel Miranda's new American history-themed musical Hamilton opened at the Public Theatre to great acclaim and only a week later called a mysterious press conference to announce it would be transferring to Broadway. Additionally, Frozen favourite Jonathan Groff has been cast in the role of King George.
4. Original Hedwig John Cameron Mitchell comes to Broadway, with Darren Criss up next
Hedwig and the Angry Inch writer John Cameron Mitchell stepped back into Hedwig's stilettos in late January. Because Mitchell suffered an injury early in his run and was (temporarily replaced by Michael C Hall), we only recently got to see these great images from the production. When Mitchell takes his leave from the production, we'll feel the loss a little less because his replacement will be Glee star Darren Criss.
We recently spoke with with Mitchell about his return to the role.
5. Tommy Tune, Patti Murin and more starred in Lady, Be Good
On 4 February, nine-time Tony winner Tommy Tune starred alongside newer Broadway favourites Patti Murin and Colin Donnell in New York City Centre Encores! production of the George and Ira Gershwin classic Lady, Be Good! Our photos from the curtain call suggest it was a joyful collaboration.
6. Brooklyn's Kings Theatre reopened
We attended the open house for the newly renovated and reopened Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, which has been closed since the '70s. Check out our photos of the newly renovated space and read more of the building's fascinating story.
