Shoreditch Town Hall announces autumn season
Shoreditch Town Hall have announced their autumn season with highlights including a transfer of the RSC production Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again and the debut of Sleepless by theatre company Analogue.
Running from August, Alice Birch's award-winning play Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again transfers to Shoreditch Town Hall following runs in Edinburgh and The Other Place Festival in Stratford-upon-Avon. The play examines the language, behaviour and forces that shape women in the 21st century and will be directed by RSC deputy artistic director Erica Whyman.
Analogue's Sleepless will then run from 1 to 14 September. The company, which mix storytelling with scientific research, will present their new play inspired by the true story of a family cursed with a rare genetic disease that deprives members of sleep until they die.
The London premiere of Ross Sutherland's dystopian comedy Party Trap also transfers in September (13 to 24), as does Shoreditch Town Hall commission Tell Me Anything (21 September to 1 October) from theatre company On The Run. Their new show about love, devotion and growing up will be performed by David Ralfe and directed by Chris Harrisson.
Elsewhere in the season, Spymonkey's new show The Complete Deaths will run from 20 September to 1 October following a national tour and in October, the venue will host the premiere of Phone Home, a transnational project inspired by true stories from refugees and performed across three stages in London, Munich and Athens, interlinked by video-conferencing and broadcast live online.
There will also be a new production with the Almeida Young Company, From The Ground Up, an immersive, site-specific show.
Shoreditch Town Hall director Nick Giles commented: "As our wonderful building continues to develop, so does our artistic programme. At the heart of our autumn season is a collection of original, bold theatre at home in our non-traditional spaces, including work commissioned or supported by the Town Hall, alongside new strands of live music and comedy gigs in our revamped 750-seat Assembly Hall. This is our most eclectic season to date, and one which in its scope and particular mix continues our mission to explore and celebrate the enormous potential of Shoreditch Town Hall."
