Andrew Lloyd Webber's School of Rock – The Musical has been confirmed to open at the New London Theatre from October 2016.

Previous reports had stated the musical would open at the London Palladium. Tickets for the New London production will go on sale on 25 May.

A nationwide search is currently underway to find three teams of thirteen young performers to join the cast, playing live on stage each night.

School of Rock – The Musical is based on the film of the same name which originally starred Jack Black and follows a failed, wannabe rock star trying to earn some extra money by posing as a substitute teacher.

The show features music by Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Glenn Slater and a book by Julian Fellowes. The production is directed by Laurence Connor.

The production received its world premiere at the Winter Garden Theatre in November last year and has subsequently had 20 Broadway Theatre Award nominations including four Tony nominations. You can read WhatsOnStage's review of the New York opening night here.

School of Rock – The Musical will open at the New London Theatre on 14 November, with previews from 24 October. The Musical is initially booking to 12 February 2017.
