School of Rock to host Children in Need gala
School of Rock will host this year's BBC Radio 2 Children in Need Gala ahead of the national appeal night.
At least 50 per cent of the proceeds from the gala, presented by Ken Bruce and the charity's mascot Pudsey, will go directly to Children in Need. The gala offers the chance for members of the public to see BBC Radio 2 presenters, celebrities and members of the public come together with the cast for an evening of entertainment.
Children in Need, founded in 1980, is dedicated to making a difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK and beyond. Over the last 37 years it has raised almost £600 million for various charities.
Last year Radio 2 collaborated with Mischief Theatre's The Comedy About A Bank Robbery, and have previously worked with West End musicals including Matilda.
Andrew Lloyd Webber's School of Rock, based on the 2003 film, debuted at the New London Theatre in November 2016, and is now booking through to January 2019. The show will also welcome a new young cast this month, joining Gary Trainor as the slacker teacher-turned-rockstar Dewey Finn.
The gala performance will take place on 6 November at the New London Theatre.
