Sara Kestelman to star in Hampstead Theatre's new season

Edward Hall will direct the world premiere production of ”Filthy Business”

Sara Kestelman is to star in the world premiere production of Ryan Craig's new comedy Filthy Business.

Artistic director of Hampstead Theatre Edward Hall will direct the show, which sees Kestelman take the lead role of Yetta. The piece is set in east London in 1968 where Yetta Solomon's business is thriving but faces fresh challenges in the form of her interfering family. The piece will run from 16 March to 22 April, with previews from 10 March.

Kestelman returns to Hampstead following her role earlier this year in The Intelligent Homosexual’s Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures.

Elsewhere in the season, Simon Godwin will direct Occupational Hazards (28 April to 3 June) by Stephen Brown. The play is based on Rory Stewart's memoir of the same name which follows Stewart as a 30 year-old former British diplomat and soldier about to take up a new post as governor in a province of recently liberated Iraq.

In June, Michael Longhurst will direct the UK premiere of Branden Jacobs-Jenkins' Gloria. The play was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for drama in 2016 and focuses on ambition and office warfare in a magazine offices in Manhattan. The show runs from 21 June to 22 July, with previews from 15 June.

Also announced is The Festival at Hampstead Theatre, a three day drama and literary festival which will run between 10 and 12 February. Guests include Julian Fellowes, Christopher Wheeldon, Nicholas Hytner and Lord and Lady Heseltine.
