Ruth Gemmell and Emma Paetz star in No Place For A Woman

Casting has been announced for Cordelia O’Neill's new play No Place For a Woman, which opens at Theatre503 in May.

Kate Budgen will direct Ruth Gemmell and Emma Paetz in O'Neill's play which is set towards the end of the Second World War. The wife of a prison camp commandant (Gemmell) throws a party and asks her husband for champagne. Instead he brings home a ballet dancer from the camp (Paetz).

Gemmell is best known for her role in the 1997 film adaptation of Nick Hornby's Fever Pitch. Her theatre credits include King Lear and Macbeth with the RSC, Coram Boy at the National Theatre, and The Weir at the Royal Court.

Paetz is a recent graduate of Guildhall School of Music and recently appeared in You're Human Like the Rest of Them at the Finborough.

Elliott Rennie will compose new music for the production and will also play cello in the piece.

No Place For a Woman runs at Theatre503 from 8 to 27 May, with previews from 3 May.
