Exclusive: Shanay Holmes and Lucie Jones rehearse Rent

The UK tour opens at Theatre Clwyd later this month

We were invited to an exclusive sneak peek at Shanay Holmes and Lucie Jones rehearsing "Take Me or Leave Me" from Rent, ahead of the 20th anniversary UK tour.

The new production of Jonathan Larson's musical opens at Theatr Clwyd later this month, before touring to Aberdeen, Malvern, High Wycombe, and arriving at the St James Theatre, London in December.

Bruce Guthrie directs a cast including Holmes as Joanne, Jones as Maureen and Philippa Stefani as Mimi Marquez.

They are joined by Ross Hunter as Mark Cohen, Ryan O'Gorman as Tom Collins, Layton Williams as Angel Schunard and Javar La'trail Parker as Benjamin Coffin III.

The ensemble includes Kevin Yates, Jordan Laviniere, Christina Modestou, Bobbie Little, Jenny O'Leary and Katie Bradley.

Choreography is from Lee Proud and set design from Anna Fleischle.

Larson's musical won four Tony awards and the Pulitzer Prize for best drama in 1996. It ran on Broadway for 12 years and was adapted into a film in 2005.

Rent will open at Theatr Clwyd on 21 October, before heading on a three-week UK tour ahead of a run at the St James Theatre from 8 December to 29 January. It then continues its tour in 2017 to Eastbourne, Bromley, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Tunbridge Wells.
