Sean Foley will bring revivals of The Dresser and The Miser to the West End later this year, it has been announced.

Following his acclaimed work on The Painkiller with Kenneth Branagh, Foley will direct Ken Stott (The Missing) and Reece Shearsmith (Hangmen) in Ronald Harwood's The Dresser.

The 1980 play tells of the struggle to keep a regional theatre production on the road during wartime. The Dresser was made into a film in 1983 starring Albert Finney and Tom Courtenay. It will run at the Duke of York's Theatre from 12 October following performances in Richmond, Brighton and Cheltenham.

The production is the first for Jonathan Church's new company since his departure from Chichester Festival Theatre.

This will be followed by a revival of Molière’s classic play The Miser which will see Griff Rhys Jones return to the London stage after a five year hiatus. The actor is known for his roles on stage and screen including his work with Mel Smith and in Not the Nine O'Clock News. The new adaptation by Foley and Phil Porter will open at Bath Theatre Royal before transferring to the Garrick on 13 March 2017.

The shows are being brought to the stage by Mark Goucher.

Further casting for both productions is to be announced.
