Alistair McDowall's acclaimed play Pomona will transfer to the National Theatre and the Royal Exchange later this year.

The thriller received rave reviews when it ran at the Orange Tree Theatre last year, winning four Offies, and it will run at the National's Temporary Theatre in September, followed by the Royal Exchange in October/November.

Casting for the transfer is to be announced.

Orange Tree artistic director Paul Miller said: "I’m thrilled that Ali’s play will be seen by many more people on the South Bank and in Manchester, in Ned Bennett’s quite brilliant production. New work is the life-blood of any theatre, and over 4800 people saw this audacious and original piece of theatre in Richmond."

The Orange Tree will also see the return of Deborah Bruce's The Distance, playing in November after a run at Sheffield Theatres's Crucible Studio, and the world premiere of Adam Barnard's buckets, running from 28 May to 27 June 2015.
