Award-winning comedy The Play That Goes Wrong will embark on a UK tour in January.

The show, which has been running for two years in the West End, will visit 30 venues nationwide in an extensive tour that includes Newcastle, Southampton, Bath, Colchester and Cambridge.

Also announced is an extension of the West End run, which is now booking until September 2017. The West End dates and UK tour will run concurrently.

Producer Kenny Wax said: "The Play That Goes Wrong has been licensed to 25 countries, currently playing in Japan, Hungary and Paris – as well as in London. It goes to prove that audiences come to the theatre to be entertained and that the fun to be had in watching brilliantly plotted physical comedy is universal."

Mischief Theatre's show is a physical comedy about Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society who attempt to put on a 1920s murder mystery. The show won a WhatsOnStage Award in 2014 and an Olivier Award in 2015.

The Play That Goes Wrong runs at the Duchess Theatre until 10 September 2017. The show embarks on a tour from 10 January in Bath and continues to tour nationwide until 15 July.
