The latest tour of The Shawshank Redemption will star Paul Nicholls, Jack Ellis and Ben Onwukwe.

Directed by David Esbjornson, the adaptation of Stephen King's novella will open at the Theatre Royal Windsor before touring to Salford, Canterbury, Weston-super-Mare, Leicester, Southampton and more.

Nicholls (EastEnders, Grantchester) plays Andy Dufresne, RSC and Royal Court actor Onwukwe (EastEnders, London's Burning) will play Red, while Ellis (Bad Girls, Richard III, Old Vic) plays Warden Stammas.

The piece tells of a banker serving a double life sentence for the murder of his wife who decides to try to escape. The show opened at the Edinburgh Fringe last year, and subsequently toured the UK.
