Natalie Dormer: Venus in Fur is darker and more mischievous than 50 Shades of Grey

We speak to the ”Game of Thrones” actress and David Oakes about Patrick Marber’s production, opening this month

We sat down with Natalie Dormer and David Oakes to find out more about Venus in Fur, which receives its West End premiere this month.

Directed by Patrick Marber, David Ives' 2010 play sees Dormer's actress Vanda Jordan audition for director Thomas Novachek, played by Oakes.

Best known for playing Margaery Tyrell in HBO's Game of Thrones, Dormer's other screen credits include The Tudors and The Hunger Games. She reunites with Marber, who wrote After Miss Julie (Young Vic) in which she played the title role. Her other stage credits include Sweet Nothings (Young Vic) and .45 (Hampstead Theatre).

Oakes' TV credits include Victoria, The Borgias and The Pillars of the Earth. He was last seen in the West End playing Kit Marlowe in Shakespeare In Love at the Nöel Coward Theatre.

Venus in Fur runs at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from 17 October to 9 December with previews from 6 October.
