Natalie Dormer and David Oakes in rehearsals for Venus in Fur

The ”Game of Thrones” and ”Victoria” actors star in the two-hander in the West End next month

Photos have been released showing Natalie Dormer and David Oakes in rehearsals for Venus in Fur, directed by Patrick Marber, ahead of the play's West End premiere.

Based on the 1870 novel Venus In Furs by Leopold von Sacher-Masoch and adapted into a stage play by David Ives in 2010, the show, set over one extended scene, sees Dormer's actress Vanda Jordan audition for director Thomas Novachek, played by Oakes. As the scene continues, the experience degenerates from an audition into something more salacious.

Best known for playing Margaery Tyrell in HBO's Game of Thrones, Dormer's other screen credits include The Tudors and The Hunger Games. She reunites with Marber, who wrote After Miss Julie (Young Vic) in which she played the title role. Her other stage credits include Sweet Nothings (Young Vic) and .45 (Hampstead Theatre).

Oakes' TV credits include Victoria, The Borgias and The Pillars of the Earth. He was last seen in the West End playing Kit Marlowe in Shakespeare In Love at the Nöel Coward Theatre.

Venus in Fur runs at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from 17 October to 9 December with previews from 6 October.
