Nathan Amzi became a household name appearing on the BBC's The Voice last year, his theatre credits include Rock of Ages (Original West End cast), In The Heights and Urinetown.

We caught up with Nathan and asked him: "If you were stranded on a desert island, which five showtunes could you not live without?"

"Without You" from Rent

I could pick so many songs from Rent but I love this song. It has it so much emotion. Of course my fave part is the rockier bit with Roger towards the end, simply because I wanted to sing it.

"In The Heights" from In The Heights

In The Heights is so fresh and rhythmic, you can’t help but want to tap your feet, I love this number especially after being in the show. I loved watching Sam McKay bust out those fast lyrics every night… BRING IT BACK! [WOS: We agree]

"King of The World" – Songs for a New World

A brilliant song Oliver Tompsett does a mean version (mean as in good not as in he frowns angrily all the way through it). Shame you can’t really sing it in an audition because if you do try the Pianist will hate you FOREVER (it’s pretty tricky to play).

"Heaven on Their Minds" – Jesus Christ Superstar

I love that pulsing riff! Again after listening to Jon Stevens & John Farnham sing JCS with their powerhouse rock voices I wanted to do the same.

"Love You I Do" – Dreamgirls

The entire Dreamgirls score is brilliant, for me it’s like Rent I could pick so many songs but this is one of my favourites. It just fills up your bones with happy vibes.

Nathan: This was SO hard. I tend to love the shows I’ve been in simply because you become so immersed in them and their stories. So I tried to steer clear of them otherwise I would have picked most of Miss Saigon, Rock of Ages, Urinetown, Rocky Horror Show. If I could have had six I would have put in something from Dogfight or another Pasek & Paul as I love those guys.
