My Top 5 Showtunes: Michael Watson

Michael woos audiences on a nightly basis as Frankie Valli, but what showtunes push his buttons? We find out in the latest instalment of our regular series

Michael Watson plays legendary singer Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys. His previous credits include Imagine This (New London Theatre), Sister Act (London Palladium) and Shrek (Theatre Royal Drury Lane).

We caught up with Michael and asked him: "If you were stranded on a desert island, which five showtunes could you not live without?"

1. "Sit Down You’re Rocking the Boat" – Guys and Dolls

MW: Nicely Nicely was the first part I played in my youth theatre group and is the reason I wanted to be in the West End.

2. "Raise Your Voice" – Sister Act

MW: This is the most epic song from Sister Act. Really gets the crowd going!

3. "You and I" – Chess

MW: This is one of the most beautiful duets of all time.

4. "Goodbye" – Catch Me If You Can

MW: This is about starting a fresh and has a beautiful melody. It’s a song I think everyone can relate to.

5. "Make ‘Em Laugh" – Singin' in the Rain

MW: This is one of the best show tunes out there! Singin' in the Rain is one of the first films I watched.
