McQueen to close early

The play about the fashion designer Alexander McQueen transferred to the West End in August

The West End run of James Phillips' play about fashion designer Alexander McQueen will end three weeks earlier than originally planned.

McQueen transferred from the St James Theatre to the Theatre Royal Haymarket in August and will now close on October 17.

John Caird's production received mixed reviews for both its initial run in May and its subsequent West End transfer. Stephen Wright reprised his role as the tortured fashion genius.Tracey-Ann Oberman also returned to continue her turn as Isabella Blow.

McQueen tells of one night in the life of the designer, when he meets a young woman who wants him to design her a dress. Over the course of the evening they visit people and places from McQueen's past.

The play was partially re-written for its transfer and Carly Bawden replaced Glee star Dianna Agron.

McQueen runs at the Theatre Royal Haymarket until October 17
