Mark Gatiss and Ian Hallard to star in Park Theatre's new season

Olivier Award-winner Mark Gatiss will star alongside his husband Ian Hallard in the revival of Mart Crowley's play The Boys in the Band as part of the Park Theatre's new season.

Opening in September, Gatiss will star in the piece about nine gay men in a New York apartment for a birthday celebration. Gatiss plays Harold, who receives a gift in the form of a male hustler. The piece originally premiered months before the Stonewall riots in 1968 and became a cult film in 1970. Adam Penford will direct.

Elsewhere in the season, Jonathan Maitland returns to the Park with Deny, Deny, Deny a play that looks at doping in sport. Maitland's recent productions at the Park include An Audience With Jimmy Savile and Dead Sheep.

The theatre will also host the first major revival of The Roundabout, JB Priestley's early comedy. Set in England in the 1930s, the show will be directed by Hugh Ross and runs from 25 August.

Anne Archer will also star in The Trial of Jane Fonda directed by Joe Harmston. It will be the show's London premiere and is set in 1972 and 1988 in North Vietnam and Connecticut where Fonda's past catches up with her. Terry Jastrow's drama runs from 14 July.

The Screwtape Letters by CS Lewis runs from 9 December, adapted for the stage by Max McLean and Jeffrey Fiske. It will be the London premiere of the piece, which is set in a stylish office in hell.

In Park90, there will be black comedy Some Girl(s) by Neil LaBute and Luv by Murray Schisgal and the world premieres of The American Wife and Saving Jason. Two musicals are also programmed: The Burnt Part Boys and This Little Life of Mine.
