Marianne Elliott to leave National Theatre

After a decade as an associate director, Marianne Elliott has left the National Theatre to set up her own independent production company.
Responsible for productions including War Horse, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time and Husbands and Sons, Elliott will go into producing with Chris Harper.
NT artistic director Rufus Norris said of Elliott's decision: "Marianne has made an immense contribution to the NT as a director and during her time as an Associate. Outstanding productions include Shaw’s St Joan and most recently Husbands & Sons. War Horse and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time have transformed our understanding of what theatre can be, and have helped to cement British theatre’s reputation internationally.
"We’re thrilled that our relationship with Marianne will continue, not least with Angels in America opening next year."
The details of Elliott's new venture, including productions, are yet to be released.
Elliott was born in London and her father was co-founder of the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester. She won two Tony Awards for Best Direction of a Play for the Broadway productions of War Horse and Curious Incident.
Her production of Angels in America will run at the National Theatre in May 2017.
