Filter's A Midsummer Night's Dream to tour UK in 2018

The Lyric Hammersmith has announced that its production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, in collaboration with UK theatre company Filter, will embark on a national tour in 2018.

After debuting in 2012, the production received a positive review from WhatsOnStage, with writer Holly Williams calling the production 'gleefully irreverent' and said that it 'pulsates with life, in an unfakeable way'.

Directed by Sean Holmes, this version of A Midsummer Night's Dream makes one of Shakespeare's most famous comedies accessible for a younger audience, with live music and liberal takes on the original text. The show will have design by Hyemi Shin, lighting design by Oliver Fenwick and sound design by Chris Branch and Tom Haines.

Filter has been in operation for almost 15 years, having performed shows at Battersea Arts Centre, the Soho Theatre, the RSC, and the Royal Exchange. They have also embarked on international tours to India, USA, Australia and UK.

A Midsummer Night's Dream opens for two nights at the Lyric Hammersmith on 13 and 14 April, before beginning a seven-week tour to Hull Truck Theatre, Theatr Clwyd, Nuffield Southampton, Exeter Northcott, Oxford Playhouse, Cast in Doncaster, and Cambridge Arts Theatre.
