A musical by Hamilton star Lin-Manuel Miranda will get its European premiere at this year's From Page to Stage season at Tristan Bates Theatre in London.

21 Chump Street is a 14-minute musical based on an episode of the radio series This American Life. It follows the tale of a high school student who goes to great lengths to obtain marijuana to win the heart of an exchange student, only to find she is an undercover cop.

Earlier this year, the festival took applications from the public for musicals to be performed at the festival. The shortlisted pieces will be presented in the form of gala nights, rehearsed readings and showcase evenings. The showcase evenings are made up of two complete mini-musicals (including 21 Chump Street) and two 30 minute selections from musicals in development. These showcases will run from 11 to 19 November.

Other musicals that will feature in the showcase include Heart of Winter, the story of a mid-twenties primary school teacher living up north, The Toyboy Diaries which is about twice-divorced Libby who falls for a much younger man, and Pollyanna which is an uplifting tale of an eleven year old orphan sent to live with her stern aunt.

This year's readings will be Luna Park by Hyeyoung Kim, Bananaman the Musical by Leon Parris and Rehab by Grant Black.

From Page to Stage will run at Tristan Bates Theatre from 31 October to 20 November.
