The Broadway production of Les Misérables is to tour the UK this year.

The show will open at Curve, Leicester from 3 to 24 November before touring to Bord Gais Energy Theatre in Dublin, Festival Theatre in Edinburgh and Manchester Palace Theatre. Further dates will be announced in due course.

Producer Cameron Mackintosh said: "This latest version comes hot from its recent Broadway triumph (now once again on a sell-out tour of North America) and is even more spectacular than the original.

"I am very proud that this extraordinary Boublil and Schönberg musical remains as fresh, thrilling and exciting as ever – and people are still storming the barricades for a ticket."

The new staging has scenery inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo and has toured to North America, South America, Korea, Japan, Canada, Australia, Dubai and Singapore."

Les Misérables is Boublil and Schönberg’s adaptation of Victor Hugo's novel, with songs including "I Dreamed a Dream", "On My Own", "Stars", "Bring Him Home", "Do You Hear the People Sing?", "One Day More", and "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables". The show is currently running in the West End, and first opened in France in 1980. Last night Les Misérables won the WhatsOnStage Award for Best Original Cast Recording.

Les Misérables opens at Curve Leicester on 3 November and then tours until 30 March 2019.
