The Importance Of Being Earnest to be broadcast live in October

The production will be filmed at the Vaudeville Theatre and broadcast across the UK and Ireland

The Importance of Being Earnest is to be broadcast live to 350 cinemas across the UK and Ireland from the Vaudeville Theatre in October.

Directed by Adrian Noble, the new production was well received by critics and stars David Suchet, best known as detective Hercule Poirot, as Lady Bracknell.

Commenting on the broadcast which will feature additional footage and cast interviews, David Suchet said: "I’m delighted that one of the finest plays in the English language will be broadcast live across the UK and Ireland on 8th October, entertaining theatre lovers and Oscar Wilde fans from Inverness to Ilfracombe and almost everywhere in between!

"We’re having tremendous fun with the play and look forward to sharing this with cinema audiences too."

The production also stars Emily Barber, Michael Benz, Philip Cumbus, Imogen Doel, Michele Dotrice and Richard O’Callaghan.
