Harry Potter play to be staged in two parts

J.K. Rowling says the story is ‘too epic’ to tell in one go

Author J.K. Rowling has announced that the stage show based on her world famous wizard, Harry Potter, will be staged in two parts.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, written by Rowling and Jack Thorne and directed by John Tiffany, will receive its world premiere at the Palace Theatre next year.

Rowling announced the news on twitter last night:

Talking on fansite Pottermore, director Tiffany said:

"[The Cursed Child] shares a scale and ambition with all the Harry Potter stories so in order to do this justice we have decided to present the play in two parts."

Writer, Thorne added:

"Obviously I loved it when we decided to tell this story in two parts because I got to spend more time with the characters and what an honour that has been.''
