Christian Slater, Kris Marshall and more celebrate opening night of Glengarry Glen Ross

Sam Yates’ production has opened at the Playhouse Theatre

Sam Yates' production of David Mamet's Glengarry Glen Ross opened at the Playhouse Theatre last night, featuring an all-star cast including Christian Slater, Kris Marshall, Robert Glenister and Don Warrington.

Guests in attendance at the opening performance included actors Jenna Russell, Hannah Waddingham, Nathan Amzi, James Norton and Pearl Mackie, Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson, and deputy leader of the Labour Party, Tom Watson.

In her review for WhatsOnStage, Sarah Crompton praised the 'poetry of Mamet's Pulitzer-prize winning writing.'

Mamet's play is set in a real estate office where sleezy and foul-mouthed salesmen work against one another and compete to see who can bring in the most profit in a single month.

The play won the Pulitzer Prize a year after opening at the National Theatre in 1983, and was revived on Broadway in 2005 and in the West End in 2007 starring Jonathan Pryce. Mamet also adapted the 1992 film which starred Al Pacino, Jack Lemmon and Alec Baldwin.

Glengarry Glen Ross runs at Playhouse Theatre, London until 3 February 2018.
