The West End transfer opens at the Apollo Theatre next month

Rehearsal images have been released of Gemma Arterton and cast in rehearsals for Nell Gwynn.

Jessica Swale's new play is directed by Christopher Luscombe and charts the rise of titular character Nell Gwynn from her roots in Coal Yard Alley to her success as Britain's most celebrated actress and the king's consort.

The production originally ran at the Globe in September 2015 and makes its West End transfer to the Apollo Theatre in February 2016.

The cast also includes Michele Dotrice, Michael Garner, Peter McGovern and Nicholas Shaw.

Nell Gwynn will run at the Apollo Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue from 4 February 2016.
