Gecko's Missing finds new home after BAC fire
The company who were in residence in Battersea Arts Centre's Grand Hall when last week's fire took place are working to rebuild their show before it heads out on an international tour.
Gecko's Missing was due to run at the venue, which has seen its Grand Hall completely destroyed in the blaze, until 21 March, before touring from May 2015.
All set, props, costumes and lights from the show were lost in the fire, and the company is now "in crisis talks" about how to rebuild the production.
Gecko Theatre artistic director Amit Lahav said: "We have a mountain to climb very quickly, but I know we can do it". The company has set up a kickstarter campaign to help rebuild Missing, which surpassed its £5,000 goal in five hours and has currently raised over £8,000.
A free bare bones version of Missing will be staged at the Southbank Centre's Queen Elizabeth Hall on Friday (20 March) at 7.30pm, allowing audiences who had booked to see the show "see the company at work and be part of the journey". There will also be an open rehearsal of Missing on the same day from 2-5pm.
The fundraising campaign for Battersea Arts Centre has so far raised over £65,000, and people from across the arts have shown their support for the venue, which has partly reopened following the fire.
