Images have been released showing Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda and actress Emily Blunt on set for the upcoming film Mary Poppins Returns.

The photos were shared on Twitter by Gordon Harrold, who describes himself in his bio as a "Royal Butler to HM, Prince Harry & The British Royal Family" and a "historical advisor to TV & Films."

Directed by Rob Marshall (Chicago, Into the Woods) and written by David Magee (Finding Neverland), the film is the sequel to the 1964 Disney film Mary Poppins. Blunt stars as everyone's favourite nanny who is called upon to help the now grown-up Jane and Michael Banks. With the aid of her friend Jack (Miranda), she helps the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives.

The all-star cast also features Meryll Streep, Colin Firth, Angela Lansbury, Ben Whishaw, Dick Van Dyke and Julie Walters.

Miranda is currently one of the hottest stars in showbiz thanks to the worldwide success of his musical Hamilton. The hip-hop musical, which tells the story of America's founding father Alexander Hamilton, receives its West End premiere at the Victoria Palace Theatre in November.

Mary Poppins Returns will be released in UK cinemas on Christmas Day 2018.
