Exclusive first look: rehearsals for the National Theatre's Peter Pan

The cast rehearse working with puppets and flying for the upcoming production

Images have been released of the cast rehearsing the National Theatre's upcoming Christmas show Peter Pan.

Directed by Sally Cookson, Peter Pan originally opened at the Bristol Old Vic in 2012. The show is a devised work which features double casting – how JM Barrie originally intended several roles to be played.

Sophie Thompson was due to play the parts of Captain Hook and Mrs Darling, but was forced to drop out last week due to a broken wrist.

The images show the cast learning to fly in rehearsals and working with several puppets which are designed by Toby Olie.

Peter Pan runs in the Olivier Theatre, National Theatre, from 23 November to 4 February with previews from 16 November.
