Exclusive: First listen to original London cast recording of "Dreamgirls"

WhatsOnStage readers have been given a first listen to the original London cast recording of Dreamgirls, ahead of the album's launch on Friday.

The double-album was recorded live during a performance at the Savoy Theatre earlier this year, and features hit songs from the musical including "And I am Telling You I'm Not Going", "I Am Changing", and "One Night Only". "Listen" was released as a single last week.

Due to be released on 12 May, the recording features Amber Riley who won the WhatsOnStage and Olivier Awards for Best Actress in a Musical, as Effie.

The cast on the recording also includes Liisi LaFontaine, Ibinabo Jack, Joe Aaron Reid and Tyrone Huntley.

The musical, which was adapted into the 2006 film starring Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson and Jamie Foxx, charts the story of a female singing trio from Chicago called The Dreams in the '60s and '70s.

Dreamgirls is booking at the Savoy until October 2017.
