Donmar Warehouse artistic director Josie Rourke has today announced three plays for the Earlham Street venue's spring season including two world premieres and a revival of the late Brian Friel's Faith Healer.

The season will kick off with Welcome Home, Captain Fox, a new version of Jean Anouilh's comedy Le Voyageur Sans Bagage by Anthony Weigh. The production is directed by Blanche McIntyre and initial casting includes Francesca Annis, Barnaby Kay and Katherine Kingsley.

This is followed by a world premiere of Nick Payne's Elegy, directed by Rourke. The play appears to continue the scientific themes of Payne's smash-hit Constellations, set in a very-near future in which advances in medical science mean that it’s now possible to augment and extend life.

The final play of the season is Faith Healer by Brian Friel, who passed away earlier this year. Lyndsey Turner directs Stephen Dillane and Gina McKee.

On the new season, Rourke said: "Alongside Lyndsey, I’m thrilled to welcome another of the UK’s leading directors – Blanche McIntyre, who is making her Donmar debut… [Elegy] reunites me as a director with our Writer-in-Residence, the brilliant Nick Payne… Over the past three years, more than 40,000 people have come to the Donmar via Barclays Front Row, over 50 per cent of whom had never seen a show at the Donmar before. It’s crucial to us that there is constant and affordable access to our seats.

The Donmar's autumn season continues with Dominic Cooke‘s production of Teddy Ferrara until 5 December. Christopher Hampton’s adaptation of Les Liaisons Dangereuses, starring Elaine Cassidy, Janet McTeer and Dominic West starts previews on 11 December.
