Colm Meaney will join the cast of the Young Vic's Cat on a Hot Tin Roof when it opens at the Apollo Theatre in July.

Meaney, who was last seen on stage with Kevin Spacey in Moon for the Misbegotten at the Old Vic, will join the previously announced Sienna Miller and Jack O'Connell.

The Irish actor is also known for his roles in films The Journey and The Damned United. He will play Big Daddy in Benedict Andrews' production.

Tennessee Williams' play is about a family gathering in southern America and looks at how Brick (O'Connell) and Maggie (Miller) interact with the rest of the family. Williams won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1955 for the piece.

The production will have sets by Magda Willi, costumes designed by Alice Babidge, lighting from Jon Clark and sound design by Gareth Fry.

Further casting is to be announced.
