Casting has been announced for Valhalla, which opens at Theatre503 in October.

The cast will include Clint Dyer, an associate director at the Royal Court with acting credits including The Royale (Bush Theatre), Perseverance Drive (BushTheatre) and Eastenders and Carolina Main who recently appeared in ITV's Grantchester.

Playwright Paul Murphy is the joint winner of Theatre503’s inaugural international Playwriting Award and his play is billed as, "a tense psychological thriller conceived against a backdrop of bewitching Icelandic scenery that asks questions about the ethics of genetic research, fertility and the endurance of human love."

Commenting on the production, director Jo McInnes said: "Valhalla demands ones attention not only in its ideas but in its form. Dyer and Main are each fantastic actors – when paired as a couple it’s very exciting to watch their chemistry develop in rehearsals."

Murphy added: "I wanted to use the subject of genetic research to explore the question of what makes us who we are, on both the genetic level and the individual level. I'm attracted to challenging pieces of work that ask important questions whilst retaining an emotional rawness. The play provides no answers but I hope it will provoke plenty of questions."

Valhalla runs at Theatre503 from 3 October to 24 October. For more information or to book tickets, click here.
