Full casting has been announced for the London premiere of Colin Higgins' Harold and Maude, which opens at the Charing Cross Theatre next month.

Joining the previously announced Sheila Hancock as Harold will be Bill Milner, who screen credits include Dunkirk, X-Men: First Class and the Netflix film iBoy.

They will be joined by Anthony Cable (The Woman in White), Rebecca Caine (Flowers For Mrs Harris), Christopher Dickins (Ragtime), Joanna Hickman (Ragtime), Samuel Townsend (84 Charing Cross Road), Anne White (Love in the Past Participle) and Johnson Willis (Dido Queen of Carthage).

Directed by Thom Southerland, Higgins' black comedy sees a destructive young man, obsessed with death, change his ways through a relationship with a free-spirited septuagenarian.

The play is based on the 1971 film, also by Higgins, directed by Hal Ashby and starring Ruth Cordon and Bud Cort. It was nominated for two Golden Globe awards and was recently listed at number 65 on Empire's Top 500 films ever made.

The production has design by Francis O’Connor, costume by Jonathan Lipman, lighting by Matt Clutterham, sound by Andrew Johnson, composition by Michael Bruce and casting by Stephen Crockett for David Grindrod Associates.

Harold and Maude runs at the Charing Cross Theatre from 26 February to 31 March, with previews from 19 February.
