Cast announced for The Bubbly Black Girl Sheds Her Chameleon Skin

Kirsten Childs’ musical will open at the Theatre Royal Stratford East in February

Casting has been announced for Kirsten Childs' musical The Bubbly Black Girl Sheds Her Chameleon Skin, which opens at the Theatre Royal Stratford East in February.

American Idiot star Llandyll Gove will star alongside Karis Jack (Urinetown), Jay Marsh (Sunny Afternoon) and Trevor A Toussaint (Fences).

The cast also includes Matt Dempsey, Ashley Joseph, Sophia Mackay, Jessica Pardoe, Sharon Wattis and Shelley Williams.

Directed by Josette Bushell-Mingo with choreography by Mykal Rand, the musical is a coming-of-age story about an African American girl who dreams of becoming a dancer.

The Bubbly Black Girl Sheds Her Chameleon Skin runs at the Theatre Royal Stratford East from 8 February to 11 March, with previews from 1 February.
