Francis said: "An Inspector Calls is considered one of Priestley's greatest works, and has been subject to a variety of interesting interpretations, none more so than this historic National Theatre revival which I'm delighted to be part of."
Opening at the Playhouse Theatre on 10 November, the production is Stephen Daldry's classic version which originally opened at the National Theatre in 1992 and then transferred to the West End and went on a UK tour.
This revival production marks the 70th anniversary of the first UK staging of the play and the 25th anniversary since it appeared at the National Theatre. The show will be directed by Daldry, with designs from Ian MacNeil.
An Inspector Calls runs at the Playhouse Theatre from 10 November to 4 February with previews from 4 November.
