Nancy Carroll joins Roger Allam in Hampstead's Moderate Soprano

David Hare’s new play centres on the founding of Glyndebourne

Hampstead Theatre has announced full casting for David Hare's new play The Moderate Soprano, about the creation of the Glyndebourne Opera House.

Joining Roger Allam, who plays Glyndebourne founder John Christie, are Nancy Carroll as Audrey Mildmay, Paul Jesson as Dr Fritz Busch, Nick Sampson as Professor Carl Ebert and George Taylor as Rudolf Bing.

Hare returns to Hampstead following The Judas Kiss which transferred to the West End. The Moderate Soprano is directed by Jeremy Herrin, who has previously collaborated with Hare on The Vertical Hour, South Downs and The Absence of War.

The production is designed by Rae Smith with music composed by Paul Englishby, lighting design by James Farncombe and sound design by Tom Gibbons.

The Moderate Soprano runs at Hampstead from 29 October to 28 November 2015 (previews from 23 October).
