CASA, the festival of Latin American theatre and arts, now in its tenth year, has announced a collaboration with the Southwark Playhouse and Arcola Theatre for an eight-week celebration of Latin American culture this autumn.

The festival runs from 26 September to 29 October and will commence with a production of Sergio Blanco’s highly-acclaimed Thebes Land – returning for a five-week run at the Arcola.

CASA is renowned for introducing new work, having presented over 50 UK premieres from Latin America's leading theatre companies over the last decade. This year it will bring three new works to the Southwark Playhouse by as yet undisclosed UK-based Latin American artists.

Highlights of CASA include a re-working of Jean Genet's The Maids, performed in Spanish with subtitles, about two maids whose everyday experiences expose society's marginalisation of its most impoverished members and a re-imagining of Shakespeare’s Macbeth set during Mexico’s War of Independence.

Daniel Goldman, artistic director of CASA, said: "I founded CASA in 2007 to build bridges between two incredible theatre cultures. The importance of international festivals that push our cultural boundaries has never been greater."

He continued: "We are delighted that we are celebrating our 10th year anniversary CASA 2017 at two of London's finest Off-West End theatres and we can't wait to share this outstanding theatre programme with our existing audiences and new faces."

CASA runs from 3 September to 29 October at the Southwark Playhouse and Arcola Theatre.
