Carey Mulligan will star in a new play at the Royal Court in 2018.

Girls & Boys, written by Dennis Kelly and directed by Lyndsey Turner, charts the life of a woman following an unexpected encounter in an airport.

Mulligan previously appeared at the Royal Court in The Seagull (as well as on Broadway), and her other stage credits include Skylight (West End and Broadway), Through a Glass Darkly (New York Theater Workshop) and The Hypochondriac (Almeida).

Kelly returns to the Royal Court after The Ritual Slaughter of Gorge Mastromas. His other work includes the Olivier Award-winning Matilda, and he is currently adapting Pinocchio for the National Theatre.

Turner has directed a number of shows at the Royal Court including Posh and Contractions, and most recently oversaw Saint George and the Dragon at the National Theatre.

The play will have set design by Es Devlin, costume design by Jack Galloway, lighting design by Oliver Fenwick and sound design by Dave McSeveney.

Girls & Boys runs at the Royal Court from 14 February to 10 March 2018 with previews from 8 February.
