As previously rumoured, the Broadway production of The Elephant Man starring Bradley Cooper will transfer to the West End, playing a limited season at Theatre Royal Haymarket from 19 May 2015.

The entire US cast including Cooper, Patricia Clarkson and Alessandro Nivola will come to London with Scott Ellis's production, which yesterday announced an early closure in New York so that Bradley Cooper can attend the Oscars.

Cooper is playing John Merrick in the production, which is inspired by the true story of Joseph Merrick and his relationship with surgeon Frederick Treves. It is running at the Booth Theatre in New York until 21 February.

The rest of the cast comprises Anthony Heald, Scott Lowell, Kathryn Meisle, Henry Stram, Chris Bannow, Peter Bradbury, Lucas Calhoun, Eric Clem, Amanda Lea Mason, Marguerite Stimpson and Emma Thorne.

Bradley Cooper said: "Never did we think we would have the privilege to perform this show on Broadway, let alone in London. I’m honoured that Alessandro, Patricia, the entire company and I have the opportunity to continue to tell his story."

The Elephant Man runs at Theatre Royal Haymarket from 19 May to 8 August 2015. Tickets are on sale now.
